TRC is seeking an experienced researcher to lead qualitative and mixed-methods studies focused on clean energy programs, technologies, and policies. When you join their team as a senior researcher, you will both lead projects teams and contribute to business development to help expand TRC’s clean energy customer experience work. Your work will explain how energy-related decisions are made throughout the market—by homeowners, businesses, government agencies, schools, developers, contractors, manufacturers, and others. You will be responsible for the design and execution of rigorous, creative, and insightful primary and secondary research that helps shed light on how customers and market actors make these decisions. You will work with your team to provide insights that inform our clients’ strategic business decisions, helping positively impact markets and develop new products/services related to energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, electric vehicles, micro grids, home automation, storage, and a range of other clean energy solutions.

Illinois has an urgent and collective responsibility to achieve educational equity by ensuring that all policies, programs, and practices affirm the strengths that each and every child brings within their diverse backgrounds and life experiences, and by delivering the comprehensive supports, programs, and educational opportunities they need to succeed.

Reporting to the Director, the Researcher will conceptualize, design, conduct, and collaborate on complex policy-related issues, projects, and studies that assist agency decision-making and policy development; will review, analyze, and summarize policies to provide relevant information to Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) policy- and decision-makers. The researcher conducts and supports the necessary research and analysis to inform policy- and decision-making, review existing research to inform agency policy and practice, document research, and synthesize findings in reports and presentations. The selected candidate would advise on the design of data collection instruments and complex statistical methods for research and policy studies to ensure effective gathering of information, quantitative and/or qualitative, to meet agency needs.  The researcher would develop and monitor performance measures to target Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in need of assistance serving any and all students, produce related reports and update them as necessary, while collaborating with other departments and agencies in order to help ISBE better serve all students. They would also evaluate technical assistance methods and approaches in consultation with department and stakeholder staff to help refine practice and improve outcomes.
