For this weeks AnthroJobs spotlight we have a very motivated employer looking for some great anthropology candidates to apply to a job opening and a large research firm that is a great resource for job seekers to stay up-to-date on:
The Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation at Atrium Health located in Charlotte, NC has an opening for an intermediate Health Services Researcher specializing in qualitative research “to inform the design and implementation of health care services and programs… with multidisciplinary teams of health care practitioners, researchers and outcome specialists, as well as with federal, state and local agencies.” Eligible candidates will hold a Master’s Degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Public Health, Communication, Psychology, Education or other related area, 3 years experience in public health or healthcare related field, and knowledgeable in utilizing computers, softwares and databases to conduct qualitative data analysis. The employer is highly motivated to find some great anthropology candidates, so apply and learn more here at Atrium Health’s website and make sure to let them know that you learned of the opening through NAPA’s anthrojobs of the week blog!
Keeping up to date on every new job that opens up is often a painful process of searching online and scrolling through scores of jobs. One way to hack the job search process is to identify large research firms and hubs that work in areas of your interest and bookmark their job openings page. You can then occasionally peruse their list of open research positions that are highly relevant and great opportunities to start or continue your career in applied anthropology!
The RAND Corporation is one such research firm that “develops solutions to public policy challenges to help make communities throughout the world safer and more secure, healthier and more prosperous” – you had me at hello… One interesting example from their long list of open research positions is for a Qualitative Education Policy Researcher that will cover “a wide range of topics, including: childhood education and welfare, assessment and accountability, school choice, out-of-school time, school leadership, teacher quality and professional development, educational technology, curriculum and instructional policy reforms, school finance, and the social, economic, and policy contexts of education in the U.S. and abroad.” Qualified candidates will hold a PhD or expect to finish their PhD in the next 12 months in education, behavioral science, social science, or public policy. In addition, the position requires “strong qualitative research skills and a deep knowledge of classroom practice (curriculum, instruction, and/or assessment).” To apply for this particular job, go to the job posting at Rand Corporation’s website.
