You are invited to: CAPA/NAPA LPO Social Nov 20 5:00-7:00 pm, Chicago Curry House, 899 S Plymouth Ct. (RSVP requested)
As a student, teacher, or practitioner, are you interested in networking with people who are applying their anthropological skills and knowledge, and making a living, outside of academic anthropology departments? Anthropologists are applying their skills in evaluation, design and product development, tourism and heritage promotion, and many other fields. Local Practitioner Organizations (LPOs) provide a way for anthropologists with diverse practice interests and employers to network with each other, within their own cities or regions, and support mutual professional development.
The Chicago Association for the Practice of Anthropology (CAPA, Chicago’s LPO) and NAPA (the National Association for the Practice of Anthropology) would like to invite current and interested LPO and NAPA members to a networking event during the 2013 AAA conference. This Social will be held on Wednesday November 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Chicago Curry House, 899 S Plymouth Ct. Whether or not you have been an active member of a Local Practitioner Organization (LPO), want to help reinvigorate our LPO in Chicago, or just want to talk with others about how NAPA (the National Association for the Practice of Anthropology) can support local practicing anthropologists working in a variety of fields, you are welcome to our social. You are welcome whether or not you will be attending the AAA meetings.
Heavy appetizers/light dinner will be provided (Indian and Nepalese cuisine, vegetarian options), with nonalcoholic drinks. In addition, there is a full cash bar at the restaurant.
You are welcome to bring guests (for instance, significant others who may want to learn more about career options for anthropologists), but please note number in your party in your RSVP (see link below).
Please RSVP if possible. Use the following link (with lowercase L’s in the url): http://goo.gl/lYzElh
