AnthroJobs of the Week, 13 March 2018

This week, I would like to share several job openings from The Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois. These opportunities are open to individuals with a B.A. and/or M.A. in anthropology. Please refer to each job posting for the specifics on degree qualifications.

The Field Museum plans to open a new permanent exhibition on Native North America. It will directly incorporate the voices of Native Americans through collaboration and will highlight the cultural and historical experiences of diverse communities of Native Americans. By providing a broader socio-historical context, the exhibition will illustrate diverse cultural traditions, practices, and histories of the first peoples of North America as well as provide access to contemporary issues and creativity within Native communities.

As part of this exhibition, the Museum will hire one Assistant Collections Manager and two Collections Assistants. These are full-time (35-hours per week), term positions that will run until June 2021. The individuals in these positions will participate in the deinstallation of the current Native North American exhibition hall as well as in the development and preparation of the new exhibition. They will work closely with Anthropology collections and conservation staff to assist with object housing, photography, movement and tracking, as well as data management. They will assist with research and cultural heritage visits, tours, and special events related to the exhibition. Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Native American heritage. The deadline for application is being extended to April 6, 2018.

Further details about these collections positions and related conservation positions as well as how to apply can be found online:
