About

NAPA Existence

Founded in 1983, NAPA strives to promote the practice of anthropology, both within the discipline and among private and public organizations. NAPA continues to grow as anthropologists engaged in practice have developed broader professional opportunities both inside and outside the Academic realm.

There are currently more than 1,000 NAPA members, working in both the private and public sectors. These members receive NAPA Bulletins, directories, professional mentoring, networking opportunities, and discounts on NAPA-sponsored workshops.

NAPA is a section of the American Anthropological Association (AAA), and NAPA members receive full AAA materials and benefits.

NAPA members use anthropological training to address current issues related to:

  • public health
  • organizational and community development
  • information technology systems
  • housing
  • social justice
  • law
  • the media
  • marketing
  • environmental management
  • the arts

I am the current President of NAPA. As suggested above, NAPA is in business to help people who either have jobs as anthropological practitioners or who are interested in these kinds of jobs. Please contact me at maryobutler@verizon.net if you want to know more.

It looks beautiful, but when I actually try to use it, it’s very difficult. Dead links, counterintuitive placement of contact information, no jobs information.

Having had a keen interest in anthropology from my university days I would have to say that the article on this page reads like a breath of fresh air on a cool morning. After all education is the key,

    Thanks
