    Spring or Summer, Based in Washington, DC

    Up to $18/per hour, depending on skills and experience

    General Description

    Child Trends has an openings for full-time (37.5 hrs/week) and part-time graduate student interns to assist researchers. An interest and/or experience in child welfare, education, early childhood development, parenting, health, or other areas of Child Trends’ focus is strongly recommended.  We will work with the intern to accommodate his/her class schedule and exams.
    Typical Responsibilities and Duties

    ·      Conducts literature reviews and assists in synthesizing research findings.
    ·      Processes secondary data using SAS, STATA, or other statistical packages.
    ·      Enters, cleans, codes, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative data.
    ·      Produces presentations for conferences and helps format journal articles, briefs, and reports.
    ·      Manages meeting logistics, takes detailed meeting notes, and organizes project files.
    ·      Assists with clerical tasks, information requests, and photocopying, when necessary.
    ·      May perform other duties as assigned.

 

    Qualifications

 

    ·         B.A. or B.S. in sociology, demography, public policy, economics, psychology, or related field required.

    ·         Excellent writing skills.

    ·         Strong analytical and organizational skills.

    ·         Some coursework and research experience in qualitative or quantitative research methods and statistics.

    ·         Experience with surveys or data collection preferred.

    ·         Must be a motivated worker and detailed oriented, with excellent grades.
