NATIONAL ASSOCIATION for the PRACTICE of ANTHROPOLOGY (NAPA)

Call for Nominations for:

  • President-Elect
  • Treasurer
  • Member-at-Large (or Governing Council Member-at-Large)
  • Student Representative

The National Association for the Practice of Anthropology (NAPA) is seeking members who are interested in being nominated as candidates for positions that will be open for the 2010 elections. We welcome nominations from all members of NAPA and encourage both undergraduate and graduate students to apply for the Student Representative position. While elected positions must be filled by NAPA members in good standing, if you are not currently a NAPA member we would like to encourage you to join and submit a nomination! Please visit the NAPA website, http://practicinganthropology.org/, for information on NAPA and how to join.

The NAPA Nominations Committee will form a slate of candidates from the nominees for each position. NAPA members will then vote for the candidates in the spring. In accordance with NAPA bylaws, nominees, if elected, will serve two-year terms, which will begin in November 2010 of the Annual Meeting, and end in November 2012.

Officer Positions and Executive Committee Seats

PRESIDENT-ELECT: Serves a two-year term as President-Elect, followed by another two years as President, and a final two years as Past President.

TREASURER: Serves a two-year term and is responsible for the developing the annual budget and taking care of financial matters with the guidance of the President and the Governing Council.

Member-at-Large. Serves a two year term and assists in providing leadership for the organization.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE: Serves a two-year term and actively represents all interests of student NAPA members and coordinates the NAPA student paper competition.

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: Nominees must notify their intentions to the NAPA Nominations Committee Chair by email no later than Monday, February 8, 2010.

HOW TO APPLY: Please submit your nomination request and supporting documents by e-mail to the NAPA Nominations Committee Chair, Tim Wallace, at tmwallace@mindspring.com by Monday, February 8, 2010 using “NAPA Nomination” as the subject line. Please include the following items in the body of your e-mail application:

1. Position you seek to be nominated for.

2. Biographical Sketch:

FULL NAME (highest degree earned, institution where degree was earned, year degree was earned) Positions held (most recent first): Title, (dates from-to) Name of Institution; Interests and/or Activities: (Limit 3); Significant publications (limit 3 – most recent first): Title, co-authors/editors if applicable, where published, year published.

3. Nominating Statement: Here, in one paragraph, mention the reasons why you think you would be a good candidate.

4. A Digital Photo. A good picture of yourself.
